“Champions of Faith: Fred Rogers”

The story of Christianity is carried forward not only through moments of great courage but through ordinary acts of faithfulness that shape the world around us. Throughout history, champions of faith have helped people imagine new ways of living. They’ve taught us not only what to believe, but how to love, listen, grieve, and care for one another.

In this second installment of Champions of the Faith, we turn to the life and witness of Fred Rogers, an ordained minister who understood neighborliness as a spiritual practice. Through moments of national tension, personal reflection, and everyday encounters, Fred invited people to tell the truth about what they feel, cross boundaries with compassion, and become a people of hope. As we place his witness in conversation with scripture, we will discover that faith is formed not only in extraordinary moments but in the daily work of becoming better neighbors and walking in the footsteps of these Champions of Faith.
