God

God is the Creator and Ruler of the Universe, existing in three persons called the Trinity: Father, Son, Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1, 26,27, 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2)

Jesus

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He lived a sinless human life to reveal God to us, and offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He rose from the dead, and will return to earth to rule forever. (Matthew 1:22,23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14, 15; 1 Corinthians 15:3, 4; Romans 1:3, 4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14, 15; Titus 2:13)

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit equips Christians for personal growth and service, and draws unbelievers to Christ. The church partners with the Holy Spirit to draw people into a growing relationship with Jesus and serve the needs of a hurting world. (2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16, 17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:18)

Bible

The Bible is a library of books of various genres, written by human authors under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. These are God’s words to us, representing the primary and authoritative source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. (2 Timothy 1:13, 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20,21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 12:6, 119:105, 12:6; Proverbs 30:5)

People

All people matter to God – and to us. We are created in the image of God, to have a personal relationship with God, and to be like God in character. However, our character is marred by an attitude of self-centeredness and disobedience (called sin) that separates us from God. When we own up to our sin and trust Jesus to save us, we are reunited with God and we have the gift of eternal life. (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:23, 6:23; Isaiah 59:1,2; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 1:12, 14:6; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1)

A: Baptism is a sacrament. In a sacrament, God uses common elements - in this case, water - as means or vehicles of divine grace. We baptize adults as a sign of their acceptance of God. We baptize infants as a sign of God's acceptance of them - and of their parent's acceptance of the task of teaching them to follow Jesus. For more information on baptism, click here.
